Introduction:
There are plenty of art studios that advertise "museum
quality copies" of famous antique paintings. However on close
examination it becomes obvious that they are just that, copies lacking the
quality of a true masterpiece and the fine painting only found on
genuine antique paintings.
I have been creating
high-class reproduction paintings for over thirty years. My life has been
dedicated to perfecting the methods and techniques of painting from the
old masters to the moderns. My works are made specifically for decorators,
connoisseurs and collectors who demand absolute perfection nothing less
than impeccable recreations that even the best experts would believe to be
period works of art.
Each painting is subjected to a unique process of aging that matches
precisely the actual affects of age on antique paintings.
The cracking process I've developed creates a cracking
pattern exactly as they occur on period paintings over the course of
time.
This is not a chemically induced "crackalure" commonly
used by those who advertise the "museum Quality copy". Such cracks
are instantly recognizable to the trained eye.
Instead my process sets up the same conditions that produce natural cracks in
their characteristic patterns in an excelerated process. The final
effect simply has to be seen to be believed.
Apart from the
cracking each painting goes through hours of finishing work to
create a surface that displays all the subtle signs of age, such as
losses, abrasions and cracks that one would naturally expect to see
on a genuine antique painting.
Finally, all works unless
otherwise stated
undergo a complete "restoration" process including a relining
just as most antique paintings would. They are mounted on
a 19th century style "English" stretchers. And the aging doesn't stop
on the front. For me the reverse side of a painting is just
as important (and fascinating) as the front. As the photos on this web site
will show, each painting can be viewed from the back and has the appearance
of a painting that was restored at the turn of the century; 1800 to 1900.
